Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

In the face of automation, we must move forward to provide a viable alternative to paid employment which is disappearing at an alarming rate. Government seems completely unprepared to deal with this problem that is leading to 15 high street retail shops a DAY closing. I thing the Basic Income campaign is the way forward and that Basic Income will prosper the nation.

I support the automation of mundane, unrewarding, repetitive jobs . However UBI needs to be in place so that the unfortunate people that depend on these types of jobs for an income can still live a decent life.

It is fair, practical and a logical way forward in a civilised society.

I believe that everybody deserves to have their most basic needs met.

There are Men, Women and Children who live in poverty, unsure whether or not they will have enough money for food and other essentials.

A Universal Basic Income would at the very least take pressure off those who quite simply cannot ‘afford to live’.

For the Homeless, i think the Basic Universal Income should be used instead to fund sheltered accommodation which also meets their basic needs. This would also give them a real opportunity to be helped and rehabilitated, enabling them to work towards living independently!

For Prisoners, i think they should be given the opportunity to find secure housing, food and a means to improve themselves. Not every former criminal is a bad person. Again, the Basic Universal Income could be used to fund Sheltered Accommodation which meets their basic needs.

For those who are unable to manage finances responsibly. I believe the Basic Universal Income could instead be used to pay for Utility Bills or be paid in the form of Food Vouchers. This would guarantee their basic needs are met without giving them a means to squander the money.

I do believe this will inevitably be the future. For people to evolve and create a brighter future for the planet nobody should worry what to do for money and focus on things what matters the most to them.

Current social systems are lacking results. The basic income system is what the world needs today.

After doing a lot of research it seems that the benefits far outweigh the costs, it increases general equality and allows people to pursue things like education rather than work in a job that they don’t enjoy and working conditions will necessarily improve because people can just quit their job if working conditions are bad. the social welfare system, which is currently failing, will be made much simpler too.

Quantitative easing at a grass roots level driving growth in the economy that everyone would benefit from rather than a massive redistribution of wealth to the top 2%

I believe that a universal income would help parents to raise their own children at home during their early years which would benefit society as that generation grow up with all of the benefits that a stay at home parent affords them. I also believe that it would take pressure off of the nhs and the social care system as many people would choose to care for their own relatives if they did not have to work as much.

Removes stigma of claiming state help and ensures everyone can stand and start to climb from ground level rather than trying—and failing—to get out of a deep hole of debt and destitution. As work is less predictable and less secure it would encourage those who can work—even disabled who can’t work full-time or even regularly—to supplement earnings on ad hoc basis without fear of being left short when bureaucracy fails to keep up with a daily-changing situation. Being able to do a little work here and there as they can and ending social stigma would improve self-esteem and confidence, allow young people to gain experience and self-worth without being exploited. would give the whole nation a boost economically and reduce envy as not competing with each other just to survive and feeling some are taking advantage of others. With fear of sickness causing loss of earnings removed, stress would be reduced and stress-related illness could reduce. For starters.
