Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

To permit all people to live without anxiety. To reduce fraud and the crime rate. People who have enough money to live on do not need to steal. To promote dignity and fulfillment to all members of society including the disabled and elderly to have an enjoyable life not consumed with financial worry. To boost our economy as people have sufficient moneyto soend to meet their needs. To create equality not the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’. To see the back of food banks!

Get rid of the welfare trap

To bring an end to poverty in the UK and give the means for a dignified life. Eliminate the waste that surrounds the current Benefits and Social Welfare systems. Many private Corporations make vast amounts of money through the commodification of the sick, disabled and unemployed. This makes no sense and merely lines the pockets of these corporations without delivering any value to our nation.

I’ve just been learning about it – it seems the most ingenious and creative solution to the problems of poverty/the need for entrepreneurship in a world where automation is going to seriously reduce the number of jobs available.

Much more efficient service than the current welfare system which would save money chasing benefit fraud. I also believe the majority of people would use this money for things such as property purchase, investments etc which would create economical growth.

As a Social Worker who works in Mental Health I believe that this kind of strong safety net will lower suicide rates and multiple anxiety disorders.

I believe that this is the way forward. It’s scandalous that so many are homeless and hungry in this day and age, a basic income will go some way to eliminate this. Also increased mechanisation of manual tasks will take more jobs away from the market.

In the face of automation, we must move forward to provide a viable alternative to paid employment which is disappearing at an alarming rate. Government seems completely unprepared to deal with this problem that is leading to 15 high street retail shops a DAY closing. I thing the Basic Income campaign is the way forward and that Basic Income will prosper the nation.

I support the automation of mundane, unrewarding, repetitive jobs . However UBI needs to be in place so that the unfortunate people that depend on these types of jobs for an income can still live a decent life.

I believe that everybody deserves to have their most basic needs met.

There are Men, Women and Children who live in poverty, unsure whether or not they will have enough money for food and other essentials.

A Universal Basic Income would at the very least take pressure off those who quite simply cannot ‘afford to live’.

For the Homeless, i think the Basic Universal Income should be used instead to fund sheltered accommodation which also meets their basic needs. This would also give them a real opportunity to be helped and rehabilitated, enabling them to work towards living independently!

For Prisoners, i think they should be given the opportunity to find secure housing, food and a means to improve themselves. Not every former criminal is a bad person. Again, the Basic Universal Income could be used to fund Sheltered Accommodation which meets their basic needs.

For those who are unable to manage finances responsibly. I believe the Basic Universal Income could instead be used to pay for Utility Bills or be paid in the form of Food Vouchers. This would guarantee their basic needs are met without giving them a means to squander the money.

I do believe this will inevitably be the future. For people to evolve and create a brighter future for the planet nobody should worry what to do for money and focus on things what matters the most to them.

Current social systems are lacking results. The basic income system is what the world needs today.
