Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

I see this as a valuable solution that would not just benefit the UK, but would be beneficial in all countries. I believe most people who are healthy mentally and physically wish to be engaged in useful pursuit of their time. Frequently the lack of a basic income demobilises to the greatest degree. When people have access to an assured income they begin to help themselves, and build some kind of stability and growth. Occasionally this is not the case, however those cases are exceptional and more to do with parallel issues to income.

To allow me to have the time to find new, better opportunities without the fear of running out of money.

To allow young people the time to further their study without the fear of running out of money.

It seems the best solution. I have personal experience of being on benefits. I found it completely counter productive to becoming a happy and useful citizen.

I don’t believe the current system supports those, who though not on the bread line, who are working full time, watch on as the money they do have is eaten away with a greater intensity each year.

I pay my taxes and other monies to companies for the services they provide, but I am increasingly alarmed by the rising costs of living within the UK.

Despite doing everything right; sitting exams, getting qualifications. At the age of 34, I don’t own my own home, I don’t own a car, I haven’t had a holiday in over 5 years and I probably never will achieve any of these things if costs continue to rise the way they are.

Its coming to the point where one wonders if you just stop working and contributing to society, as there is no longer any reward in earning a living.

I want to be able to work hard on my endeavours without the fear of becoming destitute. I am currently holding back on my potential and this is a horrible shame. there could be lots of people who could become very successful and make this country more prosperous but at this present time, the fear of losing our safety net is too grave.

Basic income will give the poorest a chance in life and hopefully tackle mental health problems due to the state of the welfare system. Everyone equal!
