Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays
  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century
  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

A basic income recognises your existence matters. It metaphorically gives back your plot of land. You are able to survive. Warm, fed and watered you have the energy and clear thinking to decide how you are able to contribute to life.

Times are changing. We really need to look at where we are going. Benefits system is flawed and exploited. More and more jobs will be automated and people will end up without meams to earn enough to support themselves.

Living is a basic right of every human. However the current system requires people to work or otherwise acquire money to live a normal life. This is an illogical system where people by default are in a situation they cannot survive. Money is trapping and slaving people, killing original innovation and happiness. Universal basic income gives us back the right to live the life the way anyone wants without having to spend 50% of their wakeful time at work just to have money to live the other 50%.

Let’s be honest, the world is miserable as on average everyone hates going to work. Those who don’t go to work either have to have benefits or become homeless. What kind of system is it that needs everyone to do a thing they hate to live? This is 21st century, surely we are smart enough as a civilisation to live a normal life without having to worry constantly over food or shelter or whether our children will have warm clothes.

UBI can solve or mitigate so many problems and inefficienies in the way society works as well as increase human happiness and flexibility of lifestyle. It’s time has come. I also believe that as a concept it easily crosses tired old left/right divides, and stands out as a beacon of good sense.

Every citizen should have a house, energy, food and access to broadband internet. He or she can then contribute to society, and their family as they wish. If every citizen had a basic income you would have happier people, communities, and a better country! The only “downside” is that those with money (i/e power) will not be able to get cheap labour so easily, because labour is then optional for the poorest in society.

I think its an idea that if implemented properly could change the U.K. forever in a positive way, some people think it will reduce the incentive to work on the contrary it would increase employment as you can’t really live souly on £5,000 a year so we would have to work part time which is good as it means we would be still paying our dues to society while at the same time being able to pursue passions we may have or learning a new skill or maybe spending more time with loved ones. As human beings we all deserve the basics if nothing else a home for are own space, money to live on and clothing no matter what anyone says that’s is essential and every last human on this planet is entitled to that. People talk about how we afford this well my idea would be to make us all equall so we could make celebrities chip in as they have more money than we could ever earn if we work 80 years none stop, we could also tax the rich and make sure the government are not being paid ridiculous sums of money for just sitting around making decisions on our behalf.

I’m all for it, not only in the United Kingdom but my current country (US)I been thinking of getting a dual citizenship and living in Britain to be an estate agent. I’m for a basic income that covers Food, housing, transport, health, and a small stipend for some sort of leisure . I believe the neg consequences are vastly dwarfed by the huge advantage it will give. That’s why I’m for giving a basic income to everyone even if your relatively rich such as a multi millionaire ( those people would either send it back or invest their check for more income growth)

I believe we are backwards, and it’s lame we think of capitalism as the end all cure all to everything. It’s disgusting actually, we create a society of either hyper lazy dole bums, or hyper competitive sleaze bags that will do anything for money.

As a matter of fact, I think doling out free money to all or most citizens may even be less than the current amount on welfare.
