Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays
  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century
  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

I believe this is a brilliant way to fairly spread the benefit of taxes, I have worked since I was 14, never claimed benefits and I’ve known many people over my life falsely claiming benefits for disabilities and medical health, who have themselves admitted they could work but are just to lazy to. Finally there could be a system where everyone is treated as an equal, where those who are motivated to work are not penalised for it while paying for other to do nothing. Obviously not all cases are illegitimate but the current system it far too easy to play and work which unfortunately is what a lot of people do. 100% support this change and would happily back it in any way possible.

I believe that the present system of benefits is too complicated. Basic Income would make it easier for more people to find employment. This can only be good for the country.

The benefits system is unfit for purpose and a basic income guarantee would save money and bureaucracy by allowing people to work part-time, full time, temp, study or set up a business without worrying about paying immediate bills. Free the people.

Universal basic income is necessary to all poor and middle class citizens to survive at this capitalist planet. Capitalism is growing up with the label of fake democracy and playing with emotions of innocent poor and middle class families. Food stuff prices are increasing day by day in multinational and national stores because capitalist want to earn more money.

A future where we can follow our individual passions and contribute to shaping a richer and healthier world is a utopian vision but nonetheless achievable. UBI is the way to go and should’ve been implemented decades ago (and very nearly was in the U.S.!).

Universal Basic Income is not just a safety net catching people that fall through the gaps in our welfare state. It is a solid foundation from which everyone is empowered. Individuals, free of basic financial burden, can reclaim their lives, reconnect with humanity, and pursue work and projects that enrich not just their own lives, but society as a whole. It is safety. It is hope. It is freedom.

Because I believe that the structure of society itself needs a complete overhaul to support the beauty of humanity rather than keeping us in boxes. We should be pursuing efficiency of automaton to reduce the number of hours people need to work, not creating unnecessary layers of management and regulation that merely create jobs for the sake of it.

I believe that we need to create the conditions for people to truly discover themselves, their talents and their passions, so that they can contribute to our society with the greatest of inspiration and enthusiasm. This means removing conditions that cause unnecessary stress.

It makes tremendous sense, and is a humane and civilised alternative to the current benefit system. As a single parent with a disability , I constantly juggle the demands of full-time work with caring for my family and my own well-being. UBI would allow me to buy extra leave, or allow me to reduce my hours to focus on my writing. It would provide some financial independence for my two adult sons who live at home still.

Economically and Socially, it’s a feasible and reasonable solution to the issues facing us over the next ten years, during the age of automation.

“Dignity” is a great word to describe the benefit of scrapping our current welfare system; Forcing people to prove they’re trying to compete in a system which isn’t fit-for-purpose is a form of torture, and deprives the potential society could see from allowing people stuck in dead-end jobs trying to make ends meet pursue their dreams and actualize their potential.
