Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

Recognition of human rights. Improvement to the economy, and fairness across the community. Probable reduction in crime levels and reduced unemployment.

I believe this is the way forward. Our social and financial structures need to be rethought. Basic Income is one of the first steps.

It would allow people the freedom to change careers without worrying about the pay cut they would likely take.

Having our basic needs taken care of, we might as well start focusing on other important stuff, personal and spiritual development, research and agriculture, choosing intuition and given talents over the “must do’s” destroying our spirit, believing we do not have a choice. Imagine how different everything could be!

Because i believe technology is leading to a jobs apocalypse and a social upheaval comparable to the industrial revolution. We need to react promptly to prevent great societal damage

I say this not as a socialist but as somebody normally described as a socially liberal fiscal conservative.

    Its time to wake up.

It creates a society that is engaged, allows for a fairer society, a society that looks to create a better life for everyone. It would allow for a healthier, more engaged society.

Get rid of the DWP, start making corporations like amazon pay their fair share of tax, stop getting involved in middle eastern wars and UBI could be funded easily.

AI is going to disrupt the job market to such an extent that basic income will become a must. It’s best we get ahead of the issue as soon as possible.

Always thought this a great idea a 1950swith no pension. Would give each person their own independence wouldn’t be like begging for anything and get rid of name calling. Everyone would be equal but could also realise their potential.

It makes for a fairer system for all and allows people to pursue worthwhile activities such as volunteering and caring for relatives, etc without the pressure to earn enough money to get by. Paid work for many people just isn’t enough to keep them afloat and in many areas there aren’t enough jobs for all the unemployed. This way everyone would have access to their basic needs and would still be able to work or complete other pursuits in their communities
