Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays
  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century
  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

I have many personal reasons for supporting a basic income. My main reasons are as follows:

    1) To put an end to extreme financial poverty.

    2) To increase general health, wellbeing and job satisfaction.

    3) To reward those working in voluntary/unpaid roles and to ‘top-up’ the income of those working in Apprenticeship/Trainee roles.

    4) To contribute to less working hours, a better distribution of jobs and improved working conditions.

    5) To provide a more secure and substantial safety net for everyone and help to reduce inequalities.

    6) To abolish benefit fraud and provide more financial and employment freedom.

After reading about the planned closure of 78 Job Centres across the UK, I have recently written a detailed post on my Public Facebook Page, discussing the reasons why I believe we need to replace our current benefit systems will a Universal Basic Income. I believe this would give everyone the opportunity to work and make work pay

I don’t believe we should stigmatise people for needing benefits in order to manage to live. I believe it will help people to find work, look after their family and get their life organised if they have a basic income to start with. Also the state will save money in administration if they don’t have to pay people to do the demeaning jobs of chasing fraudulent claims and pursecuting people simply for needing some help. A basic income will help everyone in our society have a decent life by allowing them to live in dignity without having to beg the rest of society for a subsistence in order to feed their family.

UBI is necessary now that there simply isn’t enough paid work for everyone that needs it. People should be free to retrain, volunteer and raise children.

Just seems like a perfectly logical response to a rapidly shrinking job market, a punitive benefits system and an economy based entirely on infinite consumer growth when consumer wealth is actually depleting. Its a chance for workers to claw back some bargaining power at a time when they have none and an opportunity for those who actually want to better themselves to go out and achieve their goals. Anyone who can’t understand this is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome!

Give everyone the choice of whether to work for exploitative employers or explore a hobby or helpful volunteer work. Get rid of the admin of benefits. So many jobs will become automated. We won’t have enough work for everyone.

I think that a UBI is an inevitability and helps society as whole to achieve solutions to a lot of 21st century problems. The sooner people realise this the better.

Trickle down economics doesn’t work. To improve the economy, we need to get everyone spending more. The only way to do that is to make sure they have more to spend.

We are humans of infinite potential and basic income can help to realise so much in our society, think of the endless advances we could make in humanity, science, the arts, as well as supporting those who are ill or suffering from maladies without persecuting them and making them feel worthless

The only efficient way of unleashing human creativity, prosperity is throughout liberation from repetitive slave-like works. Let machines/robots to do what they anyway would do better, and let humans to became even more human.
