Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

I think it makes sense, and it is fair. For those reasons I doubt that it will happen, but I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

I am still not clear about how it would be financed.

Mothers can care for their children, carers can care for their relatives, disabled can live with dignity, the unemployed can start their own business, we can have dignity from the stigma from being on benefits. No more sanctions, people can rest if they are sick, it makes sense on so many levels

There is a high unemployment rate in young people, and robotics will take many more jobs away in the coming years, so there is a great need to create more part time jobs, and with the basic income it would encourage both employers and employees to accept this drastic change, and create a fairer society for all.

To escape wage slavery, by opting for a minimalist life I could free up time working and spend it on my passions rather than my time being wasted in some useless company that I don’t care about.

In a world of ever increasing globalisation and automation the implementation of a basic income seems logical and necessary. Also, the current form of capitalism in our society has failed to distribute fairly the wealth it has generated.

I have lived in England all my life. I have met so many people struggling to juggle bills, living in poverty and the negative mental health impact it has on this country’s citizens. I personally am in a bad way when it comes to employment. I wish to work full time and I hope I will achieve this soon. A basic universal income will help eradicate poverty in one of the richest countries in the world. How can we help others around the globe if our own citizens are struggling at the same time. I am in my early 20’s and I believe most people my age would use the money to either pay for funding for better jobs for even to start up businesses thus pumping more money into the country’s economy. Something I think we really need with us leaving the EU. PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN IT WOULD HELP SUPPORT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO DESPERATELY NEED IT.

I think all parties the government included) have abused the current benefits system.Lies have dominated the system to make it unfair for those to get money & sanctions have made their lives unbearable.I think it would be a great idea, though it isn’t the solution in it’s entirety.

Unconditional Basic Income is a step in the right direction to a better, safer, and fairer way of living. It would reduce poverty, and less people would live in fear.

Nobody deserves to live in poverty, make basic housing and income a right, not a privilege. Basic income sets the precedent for all – you have the right to live safely and securely.

The benefits system as it stands is an outrage and too easily swindled, the requirements for collecting benefits or protective housing are vast and difficult to navigate, often leaving people vulnerable.

Let’s set a standard baseline for all – here is what your nation gives you, you can afford a house or flat, and you can afford to feed yourself. Now go forward and make something out of yourself.

I lived in Australia in the 80s when the ‘doll’ money was so liberally given that it virtually paid for gap year break and gave people a sense of love and protection at a community level that rippled through the culture and community in a deeply apreciated and healthy way. I long to see such a society return to this plant somewhere. Happy to help UK linspire a fundamental social change in the world. It wouldn’t be the first time in history this country succeded in acomplishing such global leadership and innovative change.
