Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

It is a BASIC human right to be able to pay for food ,shelter and warmth at the very least, not to be allowed such a right is cruel and inhuman, no one ever asks to be born and to be able live in dignity is an unquestionable need for all, a basic income is a moral and humane right beyond economics, politics etc ,it is a human essentially as is it to breath.

To give everyone an equal platform so that they can develop a career, work part-time, particularly useful for mothers and fathers who want to share child care, and those who would like to be self-employed as well as acting as a safeguard so that people are less vulnerable through job loss/redundancy

Everyone should be able to afford food , water , medicine , shelter , bills and live in peace . The government should remove benefits and instead give every citizen earning below 20,000 pound annually a universal basic income . In the uk the universal basic income should atleast be 1500-2000 pound a month . So many jobs will be gone and are going anyway . It is about time the government start to look after it’s people and not just the rich people .

This was supposed to happen already as robots decrease jobs. Instead extra useless jobs are being created and only the upper class are profiting from the increased technology.

It is a basic expectation for human society to provide for the needs of it’s citizens. It is an outdated and irrelevant idea that our basic human needs must be met through work. If there is any point in having an economy that produces resource abundance it is that human beings are more free from the toil needed in nature to meet those basic needs. Yet, in our system we continue to simulate a toil that is contrived, unethical, and a needless waste of time and life, based on a superstition that human beings have a some immoral nature that must be checked through constant work and make believe resource scarcity. We should keep changing until we are a civilized society

A Universal Basic Income provides everyone with the means to cover their basic needs, which is a fundamental human right. It provides everyone with a basic level of economic security, which can support them when caring for loved ones, training for a new career or working on a business idea. The guaranteed security it provides is even more vital in a modern economy that is riddled with insecure work and the threats of losing jobs due to globalisation and automation. Our current bureaucratic, means-tested system, built for the post-war economy, does not provide security to citizens today, only increasing their insecurity and causing many to resort to food banks just to eat.

A UBI provides every citizen with a income floor that they cannot fall below and a secure foundation on which to build their lives. Across the world, citizens and politicians are realising that this is an idea whose time may just have come.
