Our mission

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

  • Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays

  • Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century

  • Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

If you agree with us please endorse the above statement and we would also love to hear why you support a basic income.

It would transform lives for everyone, help us to make ends meet. Also it would help the homelessness too. They can get a roof over there heads quickly and also fill the fridge full of food instead of waiting 8 weeks for an appointment.

As a worker in the care sector I am frequently called upon to do overtime for the good of the service and to benefit service users which is fine, however under the current system this can leave me worse off as any top up benefits I recieve are tapered off due to this. UBI would ensure that I wouldn’t be penalised for working harder.

The current benefits system is a shambles many people are sanctioned for stupid reasons and many people have their benefits stopped for stupid reasons. The staff at jobcentres look down on the people who claim benefits that they are entitled too and embarrass the people who claim benefits in front of other people. The current benefits system such as Universal Credit pays monthly in arrears and claimants have to wait up to 6 weeks to receive their first payment forcing claimants into hardship and poverty. The current benefits system the Universal Credit is a much worse benefit system than the old two weekly payment benefit system it replaced. It has left so many people in hardships and poverty. Everyone should be entitled to benefits and should be treated with respect, dignity, and courtesy. Everyone needs financial help and with having that financial help from Universal Basic Income without any worries, stress, anxiety, depression, mental health issues, physical health issues over worrying where their next meal is going to come from or how they are going to pay their bills Universal Basic Income will take that burden from them and will allow them to focus on how to develop themselves, their skills, their talents so that they can concentrate on getting better jobs or starting a course or a business working towards on their path to being financially independent with the help of Universal Basic Income. Universal Basic Income will also protect people from abusive employers allowing them to leave abusive employers and have something to fall back on should they need to go look for another job. Universal Basic Income offers people that financial security and saves them from being slaves to abusive employers and taking a lot of abuse from abusive employers who are on a power trip and who think they can treat anyone how they like and fire them at any moment because employers think they hold people’s financial security. We are not slaves for employers to use and abuse us and treat us how they like. We deserve respect, dignity, loyalty from employers but nowadays employers just use and abuse us and fire us at any moment they like. Having Universal Basic Income gives us that financial freedom from abuse, slavery, being fired from really bad abusive employers. Give us Universal Basic Income we want it we need it so badly.

A basic universal income is the best way to encourage people to care for others and the environment in their spare time. We need an egalitarian society that is committed to save the planet. It’s now urgent, and empowering everyone is the best way. People with talents can still achieve fame and wealth for themselves.

I think that the logic for basic income should be clear for all to see, giving people the opportunity to be financially stable to pursue work they are passionate about rather than work as a necessity. Even from an out-dated view of economics thinking about driving productivity, of course productivity would rise if people were able to feel financially secure enough to seek alternate work. I also believe it would put pressure on huge companies to offer real incentives to their employers; if a huge global logistics company, lets call them ‘Brazilian Rainforest’ wanted me to work in their warehouse, security of a basic income would force them to offer some benefit scheme to entice me into what is a fairly unhappy work environment. I think this would lead to better corporate pension schemes, healthcare benefits, or additional incentive packages, which would actually allow for removing of expenditure in areas for government.
